Spray Foam Insulation

Spray Foam Insulation

Home Comfort Insulation has been leading the way in cutting edge spray foam insulation since our very first spray foam crew over 20 years ago. We are proud to offer multiple options that take advantage of the superior air sealing and high R-value per inch of spray foam insulation. Spray foam stops air leakage into and out of your home, reduces noise, and blocks dust, pollen and other airborne pollutants for a more comfortable living environment. With the State of Illinois adopting the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code as of 1/1/13, the requirements for insulation in a new home are easily met with the application of spray foam. By designing and building a highly energy-efficient, low maintenance home, the reduction in energy demands for heating and cooling will lower demand on utility companies for the life of the house.

We offer a wide range of solutions to meet any application or budget. From filling a stud cavity with our 2 lb/cubic foot InsulStar® at an r-value of 6.8 per inch or our Sealite® foam at ½ lb/cubit foot with an R-value of 3.6 per inch, to a hybrid system of foam and fiberglass batts, we have a insulation solution for every situation.

InsulStar® Closed Cell Foam

Insulstar® is a 2 lb/cubic foot density, closed-cell polyurethane foam insulation that is applied as a liquid to the wall, ceiling, attic, or floors. The liquid reacts, expands, and cures in-place, forming a fully-adhered, seamless insulating and air blocking membrane. Insulstar® offers exceptional insulating power that can reduce energy costs. Insulstar® also forms an air barrier that seals the walls to prevent air penetration and block outside noise pollution, giving you a quieter home. The closed-cell structure of Insulstar® blocks air movement and has a low permeance, which controls moisture vapor movement, eliminating the need for an additional vapor barrier. When moisture vapor is controlled, condensation will not occur, thus eliminating the water to support mold growth. Additionally, Insulstar® is blended with an anti-microbial agent to inhibit mold, mildew and bacterial growth.

Sealite® Open Cell Foam

Home Comfort Insulation also offers a open cell/low density foam option in our Sealite® spray foam product. It offers the same air-sealing advantages with slightly less r-value per inch and greater expansion. Sealite® can be sprayed as a full cavity fill.

Sealite® is a 1/2 lb/cubic foot low density, open-cell foam insulation that is applied as a liquid foam to the wall, ceiling, attic, or floors. The foam reacts, expands, and cures in-place, forming a fully-adhered, seamless insulating and air blocking membrane. Sealite® offers exceptional insulating power that can reduce energy consumption and save on monthly power bills. Sealite® also forms an air barrier that seals the walls to prevent air penetration and block outside noise pollution, creating a quieter home. Additionally, Sealite® is blended with an anti-microbial agent to inhibit mold, mildew and bacterial growth.

Hybrid Insulation System

A practice that is becoming more popular in the building industry is commonly referred to as “flash and batt”. This utilizes a hybrid system of spray foam and fiberglass batts. The economical value of fiber insulation combined with the high performance InsulStar® spray foam gives you the benefits of a dual insulation system. Applying a 1/2” to 1” layer of InsulStar® in the wall cavity before installing fiber insulation creates a hybrid insulation system that offers an air-tight seal along with a higher R-Value, saving you energy and money on your power bills. InsulStar® also creates a healthier, more comfortable environment. Spray foam insulation seals all joints and gaps, improves indoor air quality, and helps prevent mold, mildew, and moisture. It eliminates drafts, cold spots and hot spots as well as reducing outside noise and preventing insect penetration. When building a new home, insulation should be a primary consideration. The type and amount of insulation used will determine energy costs for years to come. InsulStar® maximizes the effectiveness of fiber insulation by creating an air-tight seal that eliminates air infiltration. An investment in InsulStar® will pay benefits for as long as you own your home. Install InsulStar® with your fiber insulation and get the best of both – a combination that effectively seals and insulates your home!
